Care of Vinyl Decals
CLIMATE - In colder climates, window decals on vehicles can be damaged by the scraping ice or frost from the windows. Mild window cleaner may be used to clean the windows without damage to the Decal.
CLEANING - Avoid ammonia based cleaners like Windex. Do not use brushes as the bristles may push liquid under the adhesive layer. Use care when wiping and avoid wiping over sharp corners or points. Should a point lift and get soiled you will need to remove the soiled area since it will not re-adhere. Use a sharp blade or hobby knife, this will stop further peeling. A clean decal will last longer as road grime contains many pollutants including acids and alkaline.
WAXING - On painted surfaces of vehicles care must be taken when waxing. Wax will build up around the edges of the decal, and will need to be removed. Use a soft cloth and be gentle.
AUTOMATIC CAR WASHES - The decal will not be damaged by normal use of an automotive car wash. Although the decals will withstand automatic car washes, these will reduce the life and appearance of the decal. It is best to avoid press washing if possible. New decals should not be washed until after 7 days.
DURABILITY - Under optimal conditions vinyl decals will last 3-5 years.
STORAGE - Unused decals have a limited life and should not be stored for more than one year. The main problem is the application paper permanently adheres to the surface of the decal. Decals need to be stored flat in a cool dry environment.
